Article Citrix CSP License Usage Insights outrage March 2020

In mid-March, during routine maintenance of the Citrix Insight Service (CIS) platform, an outage to the CSP License Usage Insights (LUI) service was caused. This resulted in reporting was interrupted. In many cases when CIS functionality was restored, license usage reporting recommenced automatically, with no user intervention needed.
In many cases, but not all.
As part of the maintenance of CIS, the legacy TLS1.0/1.1 protocols were deprecated, as they have been seen to exhibit possible security exploits. This means that TLS 1.2 will be required for all future LUI reporting.
On April 16th, in-product notifications as seen below, started to be displayed within the LUI console and the knowledge base article CTX270919, pertaining to the issue was released.
In short, any CSP license server(s), that were reporting prior to the 16th/19th March, but have now stopped reporting, are probably using an earlier version that cannot support the required TLS 1.2 protocol.
An upgrade of your license server will be required to restore reporting.
It is recommended that you upgrade to latest Current Release v11.16.3.0, as the latest version includes important updates and security fixes to the underlying licensing framework.
The Citrix License Server is backward compatible with previous versions of product, but please check the system requirements need to install the latest version.
Lastly, can we remind you that having your CSP license servers reporting into LUI is a mandated program requirement. To ensure compliance with CSP program rules, check the status of your LUI reporting and (if required) upgrade the software version in use, before the end of the month.
